On Friday 40 Police Recruits Graduated The Worcester Police Academy

As 171 State Troopers who graduated from the Mass State Police Academy on Thursday reported to their assigned barracks for patrol duties on Friday, in Worcester 40 police recruits were sworn in as police officers.

Of the 40 police recruits who graduated from the 23 week Worcester Police Academy, 26 became Worcester police officers and 14 were sworn in as police officers for Millbury, Shrewsbury, Barre, Paxton, UMASS, Shirley, Foxborough, and Hopkinton.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Worcester Technical High School with speakers that included Worcester Police Chief Steven M. Sargent, City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr, Mayor Joseph M. Petty and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Safety Kathleen M. Toomey.
