On Friday, January 8, 2021 Officers with the Boston Police Department executed a search warrant from the Roxbury District Court in the area of 55 Belgrade Ave. The target of the search warrant was Jason Martinez.
Just before 11:00 a.m. officers observed Martinez exiting from the side of 55 Belgrade Ave. and walk on foot up Belgrade Ave. As Martinez was walking, officers observed him scanning the area.
Martinez continued walking up Belgrade Ave. and then crossed the street to a garage on Belgrade Ave. but attached to the rear of 17 Pinehurst St.
After entering the garage, an officer observed Martinez reach into the seat compartment of a scooter and retrieve an item from that compartment. Martinez was then observed by the officer leaving the garage.
Martinez then crossed back over Belgrade Ave. and he was stopped by a Detective and an officer who informed him that they had a search warrant for his person, his residence and a vehicle belonging to a co-conspirator (William Candelaria-Vega).
Martinez was advised of his Miranda Rights which he informed the detective and officer that he understood.
During their search, officers and detectives recovered from Martinez left pants pockets four plastic baggies with about 11 grams of fentanyl, $434.00, drivers license and a debit card. From his right pocket officers and detectives recovered a set of keys and two IPhones.
Officers and detectives used a key they recovered from Martinez to enter the garage that Martinez was observed entering. While searching this garage, officers and detectives recovered a digital scale, a plastic baggie with about 25 grams of fentanyl and a second plastic baggie with about 30 grams of fentanyl.
Martinez was arrested and was charged with trafficking in more than 10 grams of fentanyl.
