On Tuesday, December 22, 2019 POs MacDonald and Picaarello responded to the area of Cicuit Street and Walnut Ave for a report of a person shot.
Upon arrival the officers located a black female who had been shot in the head.
The victim who has been identified as Marika Burns, died while being transported to an area hospital.
Marcus Williams who has been identified as the boyfriend of Marika Burns, was transported to homicide for questioning.
Williams informed officers that Burns and himself were celebrating her birthday at 14 Circuit Street in Roxbury.
At some point during Burns’ birthday celebration Williams and her got into a verbal argument with each other.
Both Burns and Williams left 14 Circuit Street and shortly thereafter is when Boston Police ware informed that Burns had been shot.
Officers who were on scene advised Williams of his Miranda Rights and he informed them that she had shot herself.
While be questioning at homicide, Williams admitted that he was in possession of a 9mm handgun at the time of the incident.
Williams also informed officers that she may have possibly shot herself with the firearm that he had owned for about 8 years.
In a search of the surrounding area where Burns was shot, a back pack was located with a 9mm magazine, consistent with that of the 9mm pistol that Burns had been shot with.
Williams did identify the back as his and it was located in an area where someone potentially dropped it to hide it.
After obtaining a search warrant for the backpack, officers searched it and recovered three live 9mm rounds of ammunition.
Williams who does not have an FID or an LTC to carry a firearm or possess ammunition was arrested and has been charged with possession of a firearm without FID card and possession of ammunition without FID card.
The death of Marika Burns remains an active investigation.
