Cambridge Woman Arrested For Theft Of Public Funds

As the result of a federal grand jury indictment, today Malisha Pitt, 49, of Cambridge was arrested in connection with fraudulently receiving Social Security disability benefits, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and Section 8 housing assistance.   

Pitt, was indicted on three counts of theft of public funds and she made an initial appearance before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Dein this afternoon.

For approximately 13 years, Pitt allegedly stole Social Security benefits and Section 8 housing assistance benefits. In addition, Pitt allegedly stole SNAP benefits over a period of more than three years.

Indictments and criminal information and complaints are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
