Earlier today, Troopers assigned to the Mass State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section with the assistance of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, arrested 43-year-old, Dennis Kelley.

Kelley who is a registered level 3 sex offender and a convicted armed career criminal, was wanted by the Cambridge Police Department for two incidents that occurred in Cambridge on August 12.

The first incident, Kelley entered Super Nails on Cambridge Street demanding money and pointing a gun at an employee.

The second incident, Kelley ran out of the store and carjacked a woman at gunpoint.

Both of these incidents occured in the Twin City Plaza in Cambridge.

The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Somerville.

Troopers received information that Kelley was in the Boston area and staying at homeless shelters. They were also informed that Kelley was in the area of the Boston Common and that is where he was taken into custody.

After being taken to Boston Police Area A-1, Kelley was turned over to Cambridge Police.
