
Earlier today at the United States District Court in Worcester, Jessica Hughes, of Orange, Massachusetts pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and cocaine base (crack cocaine).
In 2018, an investigation was launched into a drug trafficking organization (DTO) following a fatal fentanyl. The DTO operated mainly in the city of Fitchburg and the primary targets of the investigation were Pedro Baez and Anthony Baez.
During this investigation, electronic communications which were intercepted revealed that Pedro and Anthony Baez worked together and with others to distribute a fentanyl and heroin mixture and crack cocaine on a regular basis to individuals in the Fitchburg area. These individuals then redistributed that mixture to others.
Jessica Hughes, during this investigation was identified as a regular drug customer of the DTO who routinely purchased both a fentanyl/heroin mixture and crack cocaine from Pedro Baez.
During the investigation, agents seized over 1.8 kilos of a heroin and fentanyl mixture, over 3.6 kilos of cocaine and over 50 grams of crack cocaine, as well as a stolen, loaded handgun, drug manufacturing equipment and over $376,000.
U.S. District Court Judge Timothy S. Hillman scheduled Hughes to be sentenced on October 6, 2022.
