
Earlier today at the United States District Court in Boston, Vimoon Sortsoy, 29, of Lowell was sentenced to five years in prison and four years of supervised release. On December 15, 2021, Sortsoy pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.
Sortsoy conspired to distribute counterfeit prescription pills pressed to resemble Adderall that in fact contained methamphetamine in the Lowell area.
In a series of controlled purchases conducted by law enforcement between approximately September 2019 and August 2020, Sortsoy sold hundreds of counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine, totaling over 400 grams.
