
Today, Worcester Police Vice Squad arrested Ramon A. Mateo0, of Worcester for trafficking fentanyl over 200 grams. Worcester Police Vice Squad conducted a lengthy and thorough investigation with the target of this investigation being Mateo.
Following their investigation, Worcester Police Vice Squad obtained three court authorized search warrants. Two of the court authorized search warrants were for two target locations in the city of Worcester and the third court authorized search warrant was for a motor vehicle.
At approximately 2:00 PM today, Worcester Police Vice Squad, while conducting surveillance at one of the target locations observed Mateo exit the target location and leave in the target vehicle. Mateo was observed leaving with a female in the passenger seat.
The Worcester Police Vice Squad was able to perform a traffic stop and upon making contact with Mateo, they explained to him in Spanish the reason for the stop and that they had court authorized search warrants. Mateo and the female were both taken back to the target location.
The female state to detectives that she was having a medical issue and was transported to an area hospital to be treated.
Mateo was shown a copy of the search warrant and was also read his rights by the Vice Squad Lieutenant with the assistance of a Spanish speaking detective. After being read his rights, Mateo declined to speak with police.
After a search of the target location. Worcester Police Vice Squad recovered 1300 grams of what was believed to be fentanyl, 700 pills believed to be fentanyl, $3,745.00, cutting agents, digital scales and drug packaging material.
No evidence was recovered from the second target location.
