Earlier this morning, Worcester Police arrested Keith Jones, 32, of Fitchburg. Jones is charged with murder; firearm-armed assault to murder; assault and battery with dangerous weapon serious bodily injury; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; carrying a firearm without a license; assault and battery with firearm; and possession of ammunition without FID card.
Through information obtained from an identified witness, video evidence, automated license plate readers, cell phone records, car rental records and information from anonymous tipsters Worcester Police determined that Jones, on July 16, 2022 was responsible for a shooting at 629 Cambridge Street in Worcester.
During their investigation Worcester Police determined that Jones traveled from Fitchburg to 629 Cambridge Street, Worcester in a white Toyota Camry.
While at at 629 Cambridge Street, Jones was seen with a loaded firearm, brandishing the firearm, pointing the firearm at a group of people and then firing 7 rounds.
Two females were shot in this incident. One female suffered a single gunshot wound while the second female was shot multiple times, including a through and through gunshot injury to her head.
The second female was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide due to multiple gunshot injuries.
Jones made an initial appearance in Worcester District Court and was held without bail.
The charges against Jones are a formal accusation of criminal conduct, not evidence. Jones is presumed innocent unless convicted through due process of law.
