On March 3, 2023, Worcester Police arrested Michael W. Hershey, 38, of 5 S Stowell St. Worcester. Hershey was charged with possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, Hershey knowingly purchased or possessed visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) gènerated a Cybertip that was forwarded to the Massachusetts State Police (MSP). This Cybertip was forwarded by the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) to the Worcester Police Department Cybercrime Unit.
MSP also submitted an Administrative Subpoena tó Charter Communications (Spectrum) on the IP address that was provided in the tip. This IP address came back to an address located in the City of Worcester, and the account holder is listed as Michaeĺ Hershey’s wife.
The Cybertip identified usernames and email addresses that, through his own admissions, belonged to Michael Hershey.
During their investigation, Worcester Police determined that Michael Hershey knowingly possessed at least 25 images of child sexual exploitation material, all of which were of pre-pubescent minor’s.
These images included child sexual abuse conduct of an infant female, a young female between 3 and 4 years old, and a young male between 3 and 5 years old.
Another image depicts what appears to be a pubescent female engaging in sexual conduct with an adult male. This image appears to be à screenshot from a mobile device, as it shows the status bar of a Verizoń mobile device with the time shovn of l:55 AM.
