On Tuesday, May 16, 2023 Worcester Police arrested Adelmi F Villa, 36, of Worcester for trafficking in cocaine (36 grams or more, less than 100 grams), and possession of ammunition without FID.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2023 Villa was arraigned in Worcester District Court. At his arraignment Villa pleaded not guilty, and Judge Janet J McGuiggan set bail at $50,000 bond or $5,000 cash. Judge McGuiggan further ordered Villa committed to the Worcester County House of Correction.
The Worcester Police Department Vice Squad, on May 16 executed a court authorized search warrant at a target location in Worcester and of two motor vehicles.
Prior to executing the court authorized search warrant, members of the Vice Squad observed the target of the search warrant, Aelmi F Villa exit the target location, get into one of the vehicles, and drive it away from the target location.
Members of the Vice Squad followed Villa until they determined it was tactically feasible. Eventually they stopped Villa in the area of Main Street and Sylvan Street. After approaching the vehicle and making contact with Villa, members of the Vice Squad removed from the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs.
Vice Detectives explained to Villa what they were doing and then returned back to the target location with Villa to execute the court authorized search warrant.
Once back at the target location, Vice Detectives knocked and announced their presence. There was no response so Vice Detectives used a key they got from Villa to enter the target location and execute the court authorized search warrant.
While vice detectives were executing the court authorized search warrant, a female who was identified as Zoraida Checo arrived at the target location, and was operating one of the vehicles in the court authorized search warrant.
During the search of the target location, Vice Detectives recovered a loaded 9mm magazine from a bedroom closet along with a digital scale. Vice Detectives also recovered 47 grams of crack cocaine from a recycle bin. Additionally, Vice Detectives recovered drug packaging material, digital scales and mail addressed to both Villa and Checo.
From their investigation, Vice Detectives determined that Checo was engaged in the distribution of crack cocaine.
